The demonstration house could be erected and dismantled in a day, and subsequent studies tested how standardized parts might produce flexibility and variation rather than repetition alone. Wachsmann’s obsessive attention to connector and connection is theoretically decisive: the joint is not a secondary detail added after composition but the rule that determines what can meet, separate, repeat, expand and be recombined.
